There is a news article circulating around Facebook that is celebrating the appointment of an Episcopal minister, Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, as the president of the National Abortion Federation. In the pressrelease, it says that “We are pleased to announce that Katherine will be staying at NAF as our President & CEO, ..In her short time at NAF, Katherine has demonstrated her unwavering commitment to serving our members and her great vision for the future of NAF, the NAF Hotline Fund, and NAF Canada. After working with her for the last year, it was clear to the Board that the best person for the job was already leading the organization.”
In the press release, Hancock Ragsdale says that, “Abortion providers are some of my personal heroes and modern-day saints.” I am not quite sure what Ms. Hancock Ragsdale uses as a bench-mark for sainthood, but I am pretty sure the slaughter of innocent children would not be on the list.
The Catechism of the Ukrainian Catholic Church says this about abortion, “The Holy Scriptures teach us that the dignity of the human person exists from conception: ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you” (Jer 1:5). The sacredness and inviolability of human life is founded on the Creator’s personal regard for every human person.” No person who professes to follow Jesus can support the atrocity that is abortion.
In the Gospel of Saint Matthew we hear our Lord say, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these…, ye have done it unto me.” Those who advocate for abortion and those who carry out the act of abortion are ignoring this basic lesson from our Lord. It is especially grievous when someone who claims to be a minister and represents Christ, advocates for the slaughter of the innocent., let alone heads up an organization whose sole purpose is to ensure that these atrocities continue.
Katherine Hancock Ragsdale is a modern-day Herod, who in his time, ordered the sacrifice of the Holy Innocents to prevent the Messiah from being found. Hancock Ragsdale carries on his legacy of the slaughter of children and does it in the name of Christ.
So what can we do to combat the evils of abortion? First and foremost we must pray. We must pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe Protectress of the Unborn, and we must take action by supporting many of the pregnancy resource centers around the country that promote life.
|Prayer of John Paul II for Life|
O Mary, bright dawn of the new world,
Mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life:
Look down, O Mother, upon the vast numbers
of babies to be born, of the poor whose lives are made difficult,
of men and women who are victims of brutal violence,
of the elderly and the sick killed by indifference
or out of misguided mercy.
Grant that all who believe in your Son may proclaim the Gospel of life
with honesty and love to the people of our time.
Obtain for them the grace to accept that Gospel
as a gift ever new, the joy of celebrating it with gratitude
throughout their lives and the courage to bear witness to it
resolutely, in order to build, together with all people of good will,
the civilization of truth and love, to the praise and glory of God,
the Creator and lover of life.
